Our History

In 1979, Garden City, S.C. resident Carrol Holshouser, while riding down Ocean Boulevard, noticed a stack of patio chairs thrown to curbside outside of a Myrtle Beach hotel.

At second glance, he realized the aluminum frames were in very good condition, yet the vinyl straps had deteriorated.

Always the entrepreneur, a light went off in his head and the idea of Furniture Restrapping was born. Why, Holshouser reasoned, throw away perfectly good frames when only the vinyl straps need replacing?

As the Myrtle Beach area has grown over the years into one of the top vacation destinations in the world, Furniture Restrapping has undergone a transformation of its own.

Now known as Custom Outdoor Furniture, the business is a unique full-service facility located in a new 15,000-square foot building at 2415 U.S. Hwy. 17 South in Garden City.

Thanks to its Furniture Restrapping roots, Custom Outdoor Furniture is the answer to all outdoor furniture needs, commercial or residential, servicing the coastal areas of South and North Carolina.
